Dear Reader, We are pleased to inform you that we have found a new date for our EARA-meeting, as announced late 2009. The meeting will take place in The Netherlands on Wednesday 28 April 2010 13.30 hrs - 17.30 hrs. (reception from 12.30 hrs.) We are planning to address (amongst others) the following subjects (preliminary program): - European Project on Asbestos (report on results, by SLIC, Senior Labour Inspectors’ Committee, see also www.eara.nl); lessons for the (near) future, (asbestos)policy-initiatives throughout EU; - Shipbreaking-project (in Europe) as a market opportunity for a variety of ‘hazardous substances’ related industries; presentation on asbestos removal from vessels; - Presentation and demonstration by TNO (NL) on ‘hazardous substances’ related laboratory and investigative activities; information on recent Dutch Health Council study; - Participation by EARA and / or its Members / relations in DCONex 2011 in Augsburg (D) (EARA has presented itself on DCONex 2009 as a partner of DCONex); EARA was present at the DCONex-trade fair in Augsburg, Germany, and gave a presentation on sustainable development (social responsibility) in relation to the ship-breaking opportunity; this presence was of use for EARA and its goals and EARA should increase this possibility to become a leading association in this market-segment; - Future goals and activities for EARA in general; active participation and discussion is desired; - Networking opportunity, additional informal program. We have invited all EARA-Members and potential Members we know (including the Members of the Dutch Asbestos Removal Association VAVB) as well as known interested ‘third parties’, with whom we may develop a partnership. If you should know interested parties that have not received an invitation, please do not hesitate to contact us, will we invite them as soon as possible. Membership to EARA is open to all companies (and associations) that have an interest in the ‘management and/or treatment of hazardous substances’, e.g.: - Removal contractors, cleaning industry, insulation industry (replacement of removed material); - Investigation/examination companies; - Laboratories; - Training & education institutions; - Suppliers of (personal protective) equipment and materials; - Transportation, waste management / recycling; - Ship owners / shipyards; - ... We would like to offer this program free of charge for paying EARA-Members. All others we ask a contribution in our costs of Euro 150 (excl. VAT) per person (for dinner and local transportation TNO-venue - hotel (v.v.)). Should we decide to join together for dinner (and possibly hotel accommodation) than we would like to ask you the pay for your own expenses. Hotel accommodation information in (the vicinity of) Utrecht will be supplied shortly. Please take care of your own arrangements. Possibly some-one might sponsor drinks or dinner. We can offer mentioning sponsors on our website, conformation- and the program-documentation. TNO Netherlands will provide for the venue, thank you TNO in advance!
